HAUMEA research
Environmental Restoration and Nature Conservation
Welcome!
HAUMEA research is a non-profit association whose mission is to conduct scientific research and take actions towards environmental restoration and nature conservation.
About Us
HAUMEA research was established in 2021 as a non-profit association focused on environmental research. We are scientists from diverse disciplines and backgrounds, and we are working to link scientific research and concrete actions under a common goal: to restore the earth’s lost and degraded ecosystems, protect natural systems and their biodiversity.
Vision & Mission
Starting from scientific research, our mission is to implement effective practices to restore and conserve natural ecosystems and to re-think nature as an interconnected entity. We believe that science can provide tools and knowledge for reversing environmental degradation and that ecological restoration and nature conservation should be part of our living.

Our Expertise
Soil
The expertise of HAUMEA research combines soil remediation, decontamination and protection strategies. Our approach to restore soils´ health and functionality is based on innovative in-situ solutions and natural processes like phytoremediation, which have long-term beneficial effects.
Water
The team of HAUMEA research offers broad experience in the field of water decontamination and sustainable water management. We restore and preserve water quality and protect water bodies and their ecosystems with natural approaches, such as green infrastructures, constructed wetlands and plant-based water recycling systems.
Biodiversity
HAUMEA research is engaged to restore biodiversity, to protect natural habitats and re-establish the connectivity among ecosystems. Our work is focused on understanding the biodiversity of critical areas and to develop site specific strategies of nature restoration and conservation.

Awareness
Rising
HAUMEA research carries out scientific research to advance the understanding of natural systems and to develop and demonstrate strategies for improving soil and water quality, remediate pollution and restore damaged ecosystems. We consider scientific research as the fundamental mean to provide effective solutions for environmental restoration and protection.
HAUMEA research is committed to bring scientific research into action: based on scientific findings we design and implement ecological restoration projects to improve soil and water quality, enhance biodiversity, protect endangered species and ecosystems, and reduce human impacts on nature.
Scientific research and implementation projects are crucial for environmental protection and restoration, but raising awareness is just as essential for changing our mind-set towards nature. HAUMEA research shares knowledge, disseminates information, promotes best practices to create a better understanding and connection with our environment.
